THE PROCESSFirst, Roger Henry will meet with you to go over his portfolio and discuss which paintings intrigue you and why. Together you will discuss any ideas that you may have for the portrait, along with the overall mood you would like to see conveyed, and your preferred dimensions. A 50% deposit and a signed letter of agreement are needed to begin. Travel expenses are in addition to commission fee and are to be paid in advance.Henry will spend time getting to know your pet by listening to stories. Where and how did you meet? How long have you been together? Why did you get this pet? What are your pet's personality traits, and favorite things to do? Is there a particular pose or location that is in the house that you would identify with your pet?He will spend time with your pet, observing at first, and once comfortable with one another, will play and interact with them. Next he will photograph the pet and various settings. From the photographs he will draw up a basic composition to show you the overall outline of the painting, the setting, and the pose and placement of the subject in the painting. Any changes to the painting are to be made at this time. Once you have approved the drawing, he will begin to paint. The painting process usually takes from 4 to 6 weeks. He uses oil paints and builds the painting from background to foreground using thin layers of color. The painting will be delivered once the balance is paid along with any additional costs from shipping, insurance, and sales tax if applicable.
