Roger meets with his client to discuss design elements for the commission such as size, mood, colors, and settings.  

The next step is to take several photographs of the subject and its surroundings, which are used as references for a proposed composition.  

A sketch composition is presented to the client for approval and any changes are finalized. 

Once the composition has been approved, Roger begins to paint.
